Hello friends and family!

I am writing to ask for any support you may be able to provide to help cover costs for my first year's tuition, as I have been lucky enough to be accepted into a Sociology PhD program at the University of Cambridge in England (!)

Because of the tremendous impact education has already had on my life, I have always wanted to be a college professor. Being able to earn a PhD at such a reputable school will help me do so at almost any university in the world. This is truly a dream opportunity for me.

In addition, I believe that the research I have proposed to carry out is more important and timely than ever. In my studies I'll be doing intensive research on the impacts of technologies like artificial intelligence on labor (available jobs & working conditions), in addition to their unethical uses for surveillance and militarism. We are living in a time where Big Tech companies have enormous power and little regulation which has dire effects on our livelihoods and privacy. My goal is to shine light on these issues and conduct research on the mechanisms and movements that seek to hold tech companies accountable.

Any help is appreciated though there is absolutely no pressure to give. I know times are difficult for most but I did want to create this opportunity to receive support from any friends/family in a position to give.
