Marisa Mayberry Gibbs is a loving, active mother of 3 with one on the way who, after 7 years of marriage and 2 years of separation, is reaching the final stages of a contested divorce. During her marriage, she was a stay-at-home mom who provided all care for her boys, including her physically disabled son who requires full-time care including lifting him, mixing special protein-enriched foods, occupational and physical therapies, and frequent hospital stays. Her oldest son is diagnosed with ADHD and her youngest also has special needs. During each of her pregnancies, Marisa has taken care of 100% of the housework and childcare, while her husband worked, making around $10,000 per month while keeping all financial decisions and information secret from Marisa.
During separation and over the course of divorce proceedings, Marisa has sought and obtained employment, including becoming a Zumba instructor, then a personal trainer, and now a paraeducator for the Franklin Pierce School District, where her sons attend school. She continues to have to take time off for her disabled son's hospital visits, for which she stays the duration and which her ex-husband has only ever attended one.
Her disabled son's needs make it impossible for Marisa to work full-time hours, and due to those needs and the care she provides round the clock for her family, she has exhausted her savings in retaining her attorney for the divorce. Meanwhile, her ex-husband has filed libelous declarations while maintaining an attorney without difficulty, which is why this fund has been launched.
Please help Marisa retain her attorney so that she has her best chance of seeing victory in court, not for herself but for the best interests of her children.
