Support Marion Jones' Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
We are the family of Marion Jones, the woman our worlds all rotate around. On Friday, October 11th Marion suffered a TIA, also known as a mini stroke. She suffered minor short term memory issues as a result of this event. As such, she was written off of work by her Drs. On Tuesday, October 29th Marion's daughter took her in for what was supposed to be a routine procedure. Upon waking Marion up from sedation, she suffered another stroke. Upon initial wakening, she had lost her peripheral vision in her right eye, was experiencing numbness in some of her limbs, and was suffering severe short term memory loss. To clarify, severe, her memory would last 3-5 minutes.. Some of her team say her genetics and poor lifestyle choices lead to this stroke. Others on her team, do believe that the "routine procedure" that she had done, caused/triggered this. Regardless, of the cause, it was utterly heartbreaking to watch happen, we have never seen our ferocious Mother so afraid and lost in all our lives. Our local hospital recognizing early that they were not going to be able to do anything for her, sent her via helicopter to Georgetown Hospital. She remained in the Neurological ICU for almost a week before being discharged.
We are all thankful that she is now home, resting mostly comfortably. She has regained her vision, and her limb issues are infrequent now. Her memory, mostly her short term, but we do seem some long term memory issues as well continue to be an issue... Due to this, it is unclear to us when, if ever she will be able to return to work. While she works on recovering and exercising her brain, her medical bills are beginning to pile up. As her family, we are doing all that we can to help her stay afloat. However, as any of you who know her, know that we all have children either already in college, or on their way to it, so our resources are very limited.
If we are not able to keep her afloat there is a VERY real chance she may loose her house. Her Neurology team and her family continue see improvements in her and believe that she will continue to improve, but perhaps not fully enough to return to work or life as she once knew it. If this happens to be the case, it is imperative that we keep her in her home, where she knows where she is and feels safe.
We know that times are tight for all, and that everyone has their own battles they are waging, we are simply asking, if you love our Mom the way that we do, please help us keep her on the road to recovery and in the home she has so proudly built for herself since loosing our Dad by making any kind of donation.
Thank you all in advance,
The Jones Family
