Help us keep mom in a safe, caring home through this phase of her dementia care.
Our mom, Marilyn Lohr, has been an unwavering force of support and love our whole lives.
While her parenting style was irreverent and non-traditional she never failed to give us unconditional love and encouragement.
My brother, Chris, and I are in agreement that the facility in Hillsborough where she currently lives has extended her life past what doctors predicted because she has received kindness and attention from the staff there.
Our first priority right now is to keep her there as long as is fitting and possible. She will eventually move to a hospice home most likely but her health is fairly stable now despite losing her ability to walk unassisted. She is as happy and pleasant as she ever was. Her ability to recall song lyrics and make ribald jokes is surprisingly intact.
Ironically she retired from social services where her specialty was helping families arrange care for elderly loved ones.
We are working to secure Medicaid or other funds for her long term care but are asking for help to get out of recent debt related to her care and cover her living expenses through January.
