My name is Marco MacLeod and I am raising funds for my Eagle Scout Project as an Eagle Scout Candidate from Troop 97, located in Oakland, CA. The project will benefit Melrose Leadership Academy and its student body. I plan to sand, re-stain, and repair wooden fencing, benches, planters, and clean up the lower play area at the school. The playground was built within the last few years and it's already showing sun damage and physical wear, but the school has no funds for ongoing maintenance. This project will beautify and protect the wood surfaces for many years to come.


Melrose Leadership Academy holds a special place in my heart. I attended the school from kindergarten to 5th grade, and my troop has used Melrose as its meeting spot since 2019. It feels right to give back after they have allowed us to use their spaces for so long. I will be leading a group of fellow scouts and volunteers to complete this project in early April. Your donations will help make the area more enjoyable for the students and allow for less maintenance in the future. Specifically, the donations will pay for wood stain, sandpaper, wood, and other supplies. Since I am not a registered non-profit organization, the donations cannot be used for tax deductions. Any excess funds will be donated to the school.
