This is Ron Sweeney, I am a Trustee with Maple Grove United Methodist Church at 9155 Ashworth Road West Des Moines. My family have been members with Maple Grove for 40 Years. The Historic Church was constructed in the summer of 1900 and there were 50 members at that time. Ellen Cassatt and Loren Burt were the class leaders and some of the members were Mary Hanes, Mabel McConnell, Anna Giles, Ira Huston, J.A. Smick, Wm. Cook, Joesph Rochelle and Frank Buck. This June we will be celebrating our church building's 125th Anniversary. Before the celebration we are planning to reside the historic church, along with work on the windows, the red door and other miscellaneous items. Also we are planning to build a new shelter that was destroyed in 2022 by a derecho. The shelter was used for numerous celebrations. We have got estimates for the work and will need around $50,000. Any amount of donation would be appreciated and Bless you for thinking and praying for Maple Grove UMC.
