We're reaching out to our community for urgent help.
Earlier this year, we raised $5,000 to support Cherifa and Mamadou in their immigration process. Cherifa was able to file her asylum case, and at the time, their attorney explored a path to have Mamadou included in her case as her spouse. Unfortunately, after many months of waiting, the court recently informed them that this request was not approved.
This means Mamadou must now file his own asylum application — and the deadline to do so is just a few weeks away.
Their lawyer is ready to help file the new application but needs an additional $4,000 to move forward immediately. This is an emergency. Mamadou has not been able to work while waiting for his case to begin, and the financial strain has been overwhelming for both of them.
Cherifa and Mamadou left their home country to seek safety and stability. They've already endured so much, and this legal support is critical to helping them move forward with their lives in peace. Currently, they don't even have a house. They sleep outside or sometimes in hotels.
Any contribution you can make — big or small — will go directly toward Mamadou’s legal fees. Even if you’re unable to give, sharing this with your network would mean the world.
Thank you so much for standing with them in this moment.
