Help Us Honor Makayla Cornelius’ Final Wishes
If you know my sister, then you already know she’s one of the strongest people in this world. And if you don’t…her name is Makayla Cornelius.
Makayla was born with cystic fibrosis (CF), a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. She’s endured surgery after surgery since birth and more hospital stays than we can count. Through it all, she has remained a fighter.
At 28 years old, we were finally given a glimpse of hope: A lung transplant. She clung to that hope and began doing everything her doctors asked, committed to finally getting a second chance at life.
But then, the devastating news came.
Makayla was diagnosed with stage 3 liver cirrhosis, which disqualified her from being placed on the transplant list. That hope was ripped away. These past several months have been unimaginably hard on all of us, but for Makayla, they’ve been the hardest of all.
She is now in critical condition and has entered the end-of-life stage.
As we face this heartbreaking reality, our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support.
Makayla’s final wishes are simple but deeply meaningful. She’s asked to be cremated (a cost of $3,000) and to have a celebration of life surrounded by those she loves most. If you know Makayla, you know how much family means to her. Her only wish is for everyone to come together, putting aside all differences and share a day filled with love, unity, and remembrance.
We are also raising funds to support our mother, who had to leave her home and job in Texas unexpectedly to be by Makayla’s side. Your donations will help cover essential expenses so she can focus solely on being present for her daughter during these final moments.
Any additional funds raised will go directly to Makayla’s beloved son, Landon, to support his future and keep her memory alive in his life.
We are deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this message, you are helping us honor Makayla’s final wishes with the dignity, love, and grace she deserves.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
