My name is Brittany, and I am raising money for my beloved dog, Maggie, who will be undergoing emergency spinal surgery this week.

Maggie is the soul of our small home—an energetic, goofy, and endlessly loving companion for my mom and me. From chasing lizards on our patio, rolling on her back during walks (always finding the dirtiest part of the sidewalk...), and showcasing EPIC post-poop zoomies to now being unable to walk for more than a few paces and laying around panting in discomfort with occasional screaming episodes, my mom and I are facing an incredibly challenging situation.

About a week ago, Maggie suffered a terrible back injury that has left her in excruciating pain and nearly immobile. After taking a conservative approach to her treatment, which included a multiple-day vet hospital stay, constant monitoring, and various cocktails of medications, it has become apparent that she is continuing to decline.

Maggie has been diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease)—a condition where the discs cushioning the vertebrae in the spine have deteriorated, leading to disc herniation and spinal cord compression. This condition causes substantial pain, nerve damage, and eventual paralysis.

My vet informed us that in unfortunate cases like Maggie's, in which the pet does not respond to medication and rest, she MUST have surgery to continue living a healthy and happy life.

Having emergency spinal surgery within the first week of symptoms can lead to a 90-95% chance of recovery. That means Maggie would be able to walk again—pain-free and joyful, just like before.

However, the cost is overwhelming. Having already spent over $1,000 this past week on her medical treatment, I am now being quoted $4-5k for an MRI and $8k+ for emergency surgery. Her medical costs are expected to exceed $13,000.

Being faced with this extraordinarily steep price tag to save my best friend's life, I am making difficult personal decisions and sacrifices to afford the cost. Regardless, I am committed to doing everything in my power to help save my pup—but I can't do this alone. I am asking for your support to help save my best friend's life.
