Support Madhav’s Eagle Scout Prosthetic Project

Hi, my name is Madhav, and I am completing my Eagle Scout project with Scouting America. For my project, I am working to provide 3D-printed prosthetic hands to 10 elbow amputees in India, helping increase independence and opportunity.

Why This Project Matters
Every year, over 25K people in India lose a limb, many due to agricultural accidents. Because medical care is often far away, injuries that could have been treated early frequently result in amputations.
For many families:
  • Medical insurance is uncommon
  • Income levels are low
  • Awareness of prosthetic options is limited

As a result, most amputees live without prosthetics, making daily activities like working, writing, or caring for family extremely difficult.

The Solution
This project focuses on low-cost, high-impact prosthetic hands made using 3D printing technology.
  • Each prosthetic is 3D printed using PETG, a strong and durable material
  • The cost is approximately $40 per arm, making it accessible and scalable
  • The hands are designed to look realistic and feel natural, with fingers that open and close through elbow actuation that can also stay at fixed positions regardless of elbow angle
  • They are printed in skin tones to help with comfort and acceptance

I am partnering with a nonprofit organization in India that has extensive experience working with amputees. They host outreach camps where they:
  • Educate and counsel amputees
  • Fit and distribute prosthetics
This partnership ensures that the hands reach those who need them most.

How You Can Help
I worked summer jobs to fund half the cost of the 3D printer, and my parents generously funded the remainder. Over the past months, I have spent many hours 3D modelling, printing, prototyping, and improving the prosthetic designs with feedback from our nonprofit partners.
I am now raising funds to cover the materials needed to build the hands, including:
  • PETG filament
  • Nuts and screws
  • Velcro fasteners
  • Pencil grips to help recipients relearn how to write

I will be assembling these prosthetic hands with the help of my fellow Scouts and friends.

Your Impact
Your donation will go directly toward building and providing prosthetic hands. Even a small contribution can make a life-changing difference.
Imagine:
  • A child playing cricket again
  • A mother holding her child with confidence
  • An adult riding a bike to work and earning a living

No amount is too small, and every donation truly counts.
Thank you for your support and for being a helping hand.
