It breaks my heart that we have reached a point where we need to start a GoFundMe page. For those who have been following Maceo’s journey, he is still fighting in the hospital. Since he was admitted on October 21, 2024, there have been countless ups and downs. We kept hoping he would be home for Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Year’s—but now we are awaiting more MRI results after doctors discovered pocket of unknown fluid in the center of his brain with a thickened wall around it. The extent of his next surgery will depend on the MRI results. Christina will provide an update on the CaringBridge site today. Since Maceo’s hospitalization, Christina has been unable to work or search for a job. She and Joe have essentially been living at the hospital, only going home to sleep on weekends. Todd and Cass step in when Todd finishes work, giving them breaks in the evening during the weekdays and staying at the hospital overnight on the weekends.

They are all working as team to make sure Maceo has a parent with him at all times.

This has been an incredibly trying time for their family. On top of everything, Joe’s car was hit and totaled by a drunk driver, and Christina’s car is currently not running. It’s unimaginable to endure the heartbreak of watching your child suffer while also dealing with everyday challenges like these.

While Joe has been doing his best to support Christina, no one expected this hospital stay to last so long, and the financial strain is growing. My family and I have been helping as much as we can, but it still doesn’t feel like enough given everything they’re facing. That’s why I am hoping to ease some of their financial burden through this fundraiser.
