Hello All. I’m fundraising for my dear sister Lynn, who has been dealing with two separate cancer diagnoses since June 2024. Her cancer path has been rough. She underwent total hysterectomy and oophorectomy surgery on August 19, 2024, and was diagnosed with stage III endometrial cancer. Although the tumors were removed, she tested positive for cancer cells in the abdomen area and went through six intense chemotherapy treatments from October 2024 through January 2025. During that time, Lynn took a genetic test and was found to have a mutated CHEK 2 gene for breast cancer.
One month to the day after the endometrial cancer diagnosis, Lynn was diagnosed with Stage 0 ductal carcinoma in situ (breast cancer) in September 2024. Based on the genetic test results, a strong family history of cancer including breast cancer, the existing endometrial cancer, and opinions from three different breast surgeons who were all in agreement, Lynn chose to have a bilateral (double) mastectomy surgery, which was done on March 17, 2025.
Now Lynn is preparing for reconstructive surgery in mid-July. Unfortunately, she just learned that not only does her insurance company not cover some of the materials that are part of the surgery, they don’t even allow any appeals to contest their decision. She will be incurring thousands of dollars of out-of-pocket costs to ensure the best long-term results from the surgery. The news has been particularly devastating to Lynn because she feels like it's a huge step backwards on the long cancer road.
We’re asking for your help to ease the financial burden so Lynn can focus on healing and moving forward instead of bills. Any size donation will make a major difference. Your donation will help cover costs for surgical materials not covered by her insurance, hair prosthesis, and compression garments.
Thank you so much for your support.
With gratitude,
Alina
