Support Luis's Journey Back Home

Dear friends and community,

I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping Luis, my son’s grandfather, return safely to his home country. Luis came to the U.S. through a legal humanitarian parole program, which was recently and abruptly canceled, leaving many Venezuelan migrants in a precarious situation. In early April, he was given just three weeks to leave the country, leaving us scrambling to arrange his departure.

We managed to book flights for him, but due to significant delays departing from San Francisco, he missed all his connecting flights, leaving him distraught in a strange city. To make matters worse, the last flight on his journey was canceled without notice, and we’ve been unable to reach the airline for assistance. With considerable difficulty and expense, we brought Luis back to Sonoma County. Now, we’re facing the challenge of rebooking his travel to ensure he can return home safely.

We’re seeking to raise $2,000 to cover the costs of new flights and necessary accommodations during his journey, as many available flights involve overnight layovers. Our priority is to ensure Luis and his belongings are safe throughout this process.

Luis has been a consistent and loving presence in our lives, traveling legally between countries to be with his son and four grandchildren since they were babies. We hold hope that he will one day be able to return and continue to be a supportive part of our family.
