Our family is asking for help during one of the most difficult times of our lives. My husband, Luis, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer over Memorial Day weekend. He has already undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy and had a liver resection two months ago. Now he needs thirty sessions of daily chemotherapy and radiation at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in downtown Miami. Since these treatments are extremely hard on the body, his doctors strongly recommend that we stay close to the hospital for about a month. We are trying to raise funds to rent a small apartment near the hospital so Luis can safely attend treatment without the strain of traveling back and forth while going through chemotherapy and radiation. The funds will also help us cover medical costs related to his cancer treatment.
Luis has spent the past 35 years working as a medical assistant at Med Ped Associates, a pediatric office, caring for children and supporting families every day. Anyone who knows him knows how deeply he cares about helping others. He is also a devoted father of four wonderful kids three boys and a girl and a proud grandfather of four beautiful grandkids—two boys and two girls. We have also adopted friends of our kids as ours along the way. Eight years ago, our family experienced the unimaginable loss of our youngest son at just 16 years old. We continue to carry that loss every day, and now we are facing another heartbreaking challenge with Luis’s diagnosis. I am also permanently disabled, and for 19 years Luis has been my strength and support through daily challenges. Now I am doing everything I can to be his strength as he faces this fight.
Any donation or share would mean the world to our family. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
