Support Lucia And Her Daughters/Grandchildren After Her Husband was Detained by ICE
Lucia’s family has been devastated by the recent ICE crackdown in Minneapolis.
On Thursday, January 22, Lucia’s husband, Franklin Rueda, was detained by ICE while at work. Franklin was the sole breadwinner for their household, supporting Lucia and their 15-year-old daughter through long, exhausting days. He worked as a mechanic during the day and cleaned offices at night, six days a week. He is a kind, responsible, and deeply hardworking man who always put his family first.
That morning, Franklin left for work as usual—hugging his daughter and saying goodbye. When he arrived, he parked his car, walked inside, and was taken away. His boss was not allowed to help and was only given Franklin’s car keys.
The impact was immediate and devastating. The very next day, Lucia’s eldest daughter and three grandchildren self-deported, overwhelmed by fear of ICE and the trauma of a previous deportation in the family. In just days, Lucia lost her husband, her primary source of income, and much of her family support.
Lucia came to the United States in 2022 seeking safety and a better life for her daughters. They traveled on foot from Ecuador to the U.S., crossing jungles, rivers, and deserts. They are asylum seekers with proper paperwork and have followed all legal requirements.
Now, Lucia urgently needs help to cover rent, bills, food, and basic AND legal fees while caring for her teenage daughter during this crisis.
Any donation or share helps Lucia and her daughter survive this painful and uncertain time. Thank you for standing with them.
