Our cousin, Luc Ung, is only 28 years old and is now facing the fight of his life.

Luc is full of talent, humor, and kindness. He has a bright future in cinematography ahead of him, and he’s the kind of person who instantly lights up a room with his presence. He’s a son, a cousin, a brother, a friend, and a partner who is deeply loved by everyone lucky enough to know him.

Less than a year ago, Luc discovered a lump near his hip. At first, doctors thought it was nothing serious, but after surgery and more tests, we received the devastating news: it was cancer, synovial sarcoma, and it had already spread to his lungs.

Today, Luc is undergoing a grueling chemotherapy routine—15 days on, 15 days off—for the next several months. Even after hearing the doctors say the odds of remission are low, Luc has never lost his optimism. His goal is to shrink the cancer enough to qualify for a clinical trial—something that could give him more time, more options, and maybe even a breakthrough.

We know the statistics for Stage 4 synovial sarcoma aren’t encouraging, but Luc is not a statistic. He is a fighter. He is hopeful. And he’s holding on to every bit of strength and faith he has to keep moving forward.

Right now, Luc can’t work, and the costs of treatment, travel, and everyday living are piling up quickly. His parents and girlfriend are by his side through every appointment, but the financial strain is heavy.

Notre cousin, Luc Ung, n’a que 28 ans et il doit aujourd’hui affronter le combat de sa vie.

Luc, c’est quelqu’un de rempli de talent, d’humour et de gentillesse. Il a un bel avenir devant lui dans le cinéma, et c’est le genre de personne qui fait briller une pièce rien qu’en y entrant. Pour nous, il est un fils, un cousin, un frère, un ami et un compagnon, aimé profondément par tous ceux qui ont la chance de le connaître.

Il y a moins d’un an, Luc a découvert un kyste près de sa hanche. Au début, les médecins pensaient que ce n’était pas grave. Mais après une opération et des examens plus poussés, le verdict est tombé : un sarcome synovial, un cancer rare, déjà propagé à ses poumons.

Aujourd’hui, Luc suit une chimiothérapie extrêmement lourde : 15 jours de traitement, puis 15 jours de pause, et cela pendant plusieurs mois. Même après avoir entendu les médecins dire que les chances de rémission étaient faibles, il n’a jamais perdu son optimisme. Son objectif, c’est de réduire la maladie suffisamment pour pouvoir entrer dans un essai clinique, une chance qui pourrait lui donner plus de temps, plus d’options et peut-être même une véritable avancée.

Nous savons bien que les statistiques pour un sarcome synovial de stade 4 ne sont pas encourageantes. Mais Luc n’est pas une statistique. C’est un battant. Il garde espoir. Et il s’accroche de toutes ses forces et de toute sa foi pour continuer d’avancer.

En ce moment, Luc ne peut plus travailler, et les frais liés aux traitements, aux déplacements et au quotidien s’accumulent rapidement. Ses parents et sa petite amie l’accompagnent à chaque rendez-vous, mais la charge financière est très lourde.
