PROBLEM: Several pounds of unopened cafeteria food are thrown away or composted at schools every day. Over 400 lbs. of food were collected from Lowell kindergarten classrooms alone last March-June and delivered to the Watertown Community Fridge. At the same time, food insecurity is on the rise in Watertown.

SOLUTION: Funds raised will be used to purchase a glass-fronted fridge for the Lowell cafeteria as a Share Fridge where unopened food can be stored and used by Lowell students throughout the school day and after school. Any leftovers will be delivered to the Watertown Community Fridge for the greater community to access.
