Support Lourdes Pilgrimage for Adults with Additional Needs
Donation protected
Every summer, a group of adults with additional needs travel to Lourdes as part of a truly special pilgrimage. Known affectionately as “Bob’s Group”, this tradition has been shaped by decades of care, community, and faith. Founded and lovingly led for decades by Fr Bob, the group is now carried forward by a dedicated team of long-time volunteers — Amy, Ross, Isaac, and Sophie — with Fr Bob continuing to guide and support us as part of the team.
This pilgrimage is about so much more than travel. It’s a time of joy, reflection, belonging, and connection — especially for our pilgrims, who often don’t get the chance to experience a trip like this anywhere else. It’s also a rare and beautiful opportunity for them to meet and mix with young people from the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service (BCYS) — relationships that spark fun, friendship, and a real sense of community between people who may never otherwise cross paths.
Many of you reading this will have encountered our group on pilgrimage over the years — whether as a leader, a young person, a helper, or a fellow pilgrim. You’ll know the colour, character, and joy this group brings wherever we go.
Due to recent changes, the funding that has generously supported us in the past will no longer be available in 2025 — but we’re committed to carrying on. We’re fundraising independently to make sure this pilgrimage can continue to thrive, safely and fully, for the people who love it most.
Your donation will help cover essential costs: accessible travel, accommodation, trained carers, medical support, and everything needed to give our pilgrims the experience they deserve.
With your support, we’ll be back in Lourdes in 2025
