My name is Jonathan Sanchez and with a heavy heart I would like to share that this past weekend, Sunday, September 1st, 2024. I lost my brother, Jose Zapata. But we all call him him Louie. My brother had a tumor on his right collarbone which was cancerous. If anyone has loss a close sibling before they would know how I feel about losing my brother. We had a tight bond, a handshake, similarities and memories that would never be forgettable. He was like my father, people would always mistaking me as his son. When my actual father wasn’t there Louie created a childhood for me. He always took me to the park, the toy store, the game store, the record shops, different restaurants, museums, community events. He would teach me life long lessons like take me to different boroughs so I know my way around the NYC and never get lost.

My brother Louie was a local disc jockey around the neighborhood so, if you needed a mixtape with all your favorite songs? Or the best of your favorite artist? Dj Louie Lou was your go to to make it happen. Those that may not know, when he was younger he would play baseball. He had talent he could hit a baseball out the park on a regular. Louie discovered vacant lot that was always in his neighborhood located on 100th street and 101 street between 1st and 2nd Avenue. Louie loved baseball so one day Louie seen construction men at work and decided to approach them with a proposal that they should turn this vacant lot into an actual baseball field. The construction workers agreed with the proposal. Within a couple of months the vacant was being built into a baseball field. Which is now owned today by Harlem RBI.

Louie was a cool, loving and a helpful person. I believe he treated most of my friends like family He spoke positive never negative about life situations. If you was feeling down or sad about something Louie would either make you laugh or listen to you to see how he can help.

I’m heavy hearted and broken from this loss. My family will miss Louie dearly. With that said I am currently asking for any donation to help contribute to funeral costs. I would like to give my brother the proper send off that he deserves. Anything helps, big or small, all is greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

Long Live DJ Louie Lou! Its forever your world big bro! We love you and you will be missed!
