What is Lossi 36?
Lossi 36 is an independent media organization providing news, analysis, and photography from Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Through original analysis, niche reporting, book and film reviews, travel writing and photography, we offer readers a richer and more nuanced understanding of places too often reduced to stereotypes or geopolitical headlines. Lossi 36 also remains committed to showcasing the work of emerging journalists, researchers, and professionals.
Lossi 36 started out as a student-led initiative at the University of Tartu, bringing together international master's students with a shared passion for discussing politics, society, and culture related to Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Today, Lossi 36 is a registered NGO and is run by a team of professionals from all over the world.
Why does Lossi 36 need your support?
As a fully volunteer-run organisation, Lossi 36 relies on donations to keep its work accessible and sustainable. Your contribution will help cover operating costs, support the development of the organisation, and sustain its ongoing activities, ensuring that Lossi 36 can continue publishing original reporting, analysis, and photography from Central Europe to Central Asia.
Where will your money go?
All donations will go directly toward supporting Lossi 36 and helping it grow as an independent media platform. This includes maintaining Lossi 36's website infrastructure and domain, ensuring that Lossi36.com remains online, accessible, and up to date, as well as supporting the ongoing development of the project and its activities.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
Why is this important?
In comparison to mainstream media covering the region from Central Europe to Central Asia, Lossi 36 offers something different, allowing young and professional writers to share fresh perspectives, join a like-minded community and highlight topics often neglected by larger media outlets.
By supporting Lossi 36, you're helping to sustain an independent initiative that amplifies underrepresented voices, shares unique perspectives and supports the next generation of regional experts and journalists.
