Hi, my name is Kim. I'm Lori's aunt and need your help. Here's her story:
- Lori has had a rough couple of months. She totaled her car that she's still paying for on October 7th when a woman with no insurance slammed into her. She barely had the car for a month and worked her entire pregnancy to get all the way up till she delivered. Then she found out on November 16th that she has lymphoma, stage 4 cancer. It is all over her little body: in her neck against her esophagus, between her lungs, in her stomach, on her ovaries, and her left kidney. She is only 22 and a new mommy of a 5-month-old beautiful baby girl. Life is about to be so much harder with aggressive treatments starting immediately. Lori is in Knoxville at the hospital. She was admitted, and they have done her PET scan and bone marrow testing. She underwent a procedure to place a port and also remove a lymph node for further testing. We are praying that her body is strong enough to start chemo on Monday. She was diagnosed with very late stage 4 lymphoma, so she has become sick very quickly. When Lori went to her cancer doctor last week, never did anyone think that she was so sick. She was immediately sent to the ER for an emergency blood transfusion. She also has a bad bacterial infection in her GI tract. They admitted her on the spot and then transferred her care to the hospital in Knoxville so they could move forward with the testing and start her chemotherapy. Needless to say, she will not be able to work. SHE IS THE SOLE PROVIDER! Her rent is due, her water bill is due, and there is nothing that she can do. Even when she gets released from the hospital, she's not going to be able to work. They are going to have to treat her cancer aggressively if she is going to have a chance to survive. Her little body is covered in cancer. I NEED YOUR HELP DESPERATELY! Anyone that knows me knows that I don't ask for help, but I'm asking now. I'm asking you to pray like your life depended on it, but I'm also asking for anything you can spare to donate so we can get her bills paid so she can focus on fighting this cancer and getting better. We are applying for any services and resources that are available, but unfortunately, that's a waiting game, and we don't have extra time, so we have to be proactive.
