Hi, my name is Steve. I am 34 years old. In my 34 years, I've had a few people I could count on and a few people I thought I could count on. One person that has always been there for me unconditionally is my mother, Lori Nabors. For those of you that know me, you know I am stubborn, hard-headed, and sometimes set in my ways. I got that all from her. My mom, no matter what I've gone through, what I've done, what I've needed to do, and what I've wanted to do, has always been in my corner.
Sadly, life starts happening. A few months ago, my mother suffered a series of heart attacks unbeknownst to her or anyone else. She had multiple stents put in. If that wasn't worrisome enough, during her multiple trips to the hospital dealing with her heart surgeries, they found what appeared to be a mass on her pancreas. She had a few tests done, and unfortunately, it has come back as cancerous. Anyone willing to do the research knows it's pretty serious as the localized survival rate is only 44 percent, and to tell you the truth, we are all pretty worried about it.
However, she is going to start doing chemo, and as most of everyone knows, with hospital visits and surgeries, the bills start racking up. Due to my mother's heart condition, she had to quit working. Now she is unable to work as she will be going through chemo. My dad (who I have the pleasure of being named after), Steve, has been there every waking hour to aid my mother. Unfortunately, he has had to miss a lot of work, and him being the only one working puts a strain on everything. They have had a couple of appointments weekly for about a month now, and they have to drive back and forth to St. Louis a lot, which also requires a lot of funds. We really didn't want to resort to this, but with everything piling up, we saw no other option. We are only asking for anything you can spare. If you can't donate money, please just pray for her as she has a long journey ahead of her.
