Hi everyone, my name is Jennie Burg, along with my two sisters, Carolann Clements and Lindsay O'Brien Reed, and my two brothers, Keith Clements and Sean O'Brien.
Our mother is Loretta Clements. She is the most loving, caring, and giving person, an amazing sister, mother, nana, and friend who wouldn't think twice about helping anyone in need. She is the center of our entire family.
In November 2024, Loretta was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, stage III Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). After a week of tests and a procedure to open up a blocked bile duct, she was told she would need to undergo surgery to remove her gallbladder and tumor from her liver and bile duct. They did a resection and reconstruction of the main portal vein and bile ducts, rerouting them to drain into her small intestines. She championed her way through a 9-hour surgery and was told that it had spread to a nearby lymph node and would need chemotherapy and radiation treatments following her discharge. In January 2025, she started her treatments and finished in May. In September, we were all relieved and happy to hear that she was in remission.
But she was not feeling well by Thanksgiving and made a trip to the ER just before Christmas, where they discovered that the cancer had spread to her abdomen. After several tests and a biopsy confirmed it is now stage IV Cholangiocarcinoma, she has started chemotherapy and immunotherapy to ease her pain and prolong her life.
We are fundraising to support Loretta's ongoing medical treatments and to help ease the financial burden on our family during this difficult time.
If you're able, please consider donating and sharing this page with others. Even a small gift brings us one step closer to keeping our mom cared for and comfortable. Thank you for your kindness.
