Support Lizzy Diop: A Compassionate and Courageous Friend
Donation protected
I am a dear friend and former colleague of Rev. Lizzy Diop. I know Lizzy to be a phenomenal chaplain, an intuitive and compassionate caregiver, and a wise and thoughtful friend.
On July 21st, Lizzy was terminated from her job at Cincinnati Children's Hospital after serving as a chaplain there for ten years. This termination came as a result of Lizzy speaking up and speaking out, in public ways, about the plight of her detained friend, Imam Ayman Soliman. As is always the case with Lizzy, she stood up for her values even when it came at personal risk. Lizzy's heartfelt and timely updates about Imam Soliman have helped so many of us to bear witness to his story and our broken immigration system. Her words have added tenderness and texture to help us feel and act in response to this injustice.
Lizzy rarely asks for help and is far more accustomed to being the 'giver' -- however, it's important that we show up now, in this season of vocational and financial uncertainty -- to help ease the stress for Lizzy, Ali, and their five children. Let's remind Lizzy with our words and actions that she doesn't have to shoulder this season alone. Any amount helps!
It is my honor to help support Lizzy and her family in this season of uncertainty.
Peace,
