On April 7, 2024, my mother Liz Walters passed away from a rare and aggressive cancer, specifically stage 4 esophageal cancer that spread through her lymph nodes. She was only diagnosed 8 months before losing her battle, though those 8 months felt like an eternity.
My mother was selfless and full of life, even during her most painful days. She was not only the life of the party, but the coordinator of the party, and she was the host too. She was so incredibly welcoming to anyone and everyone who crossed paths with her, and she was always looking to lend a helping hand. And I hope to honor her legacy by being just like her.
However, in times of need, we must steer away from offering help and learn how to ask for it. Losing my mother has led to many financial hardships amongst myself and other loved ones, which brings me here.
Any donations that are made to this Go Fund Me will go directly to end of life costs and other financial hardships that have come up during this tragic time. All additional donations will go to some of the things that my mom supported the most, because giving back when you are able to is good for the soul. These things include (please click hyper-links for more information on each cause):
- Helping rescue dogs find loving homes (if you knew my mom at all, you know she was the biggest dog person).
- Assisting other families and cancer patients who are facing similar battles.
- A casino-themed fundraiser event in her honor (unfortunately this will not take place in Vegas, though we know she loved it there too).
In times of need, a little goes a long way. I wish to extend my gratitude to anyone that is able to help us out during this time.
