Meet Lizbeth, Manuel and four-month-old baby Abiel!
Lizbeth, Manuel and baby Abiel were recently placed in Cleveland through the Movilidad Segura program which supports the safe arrival of refugees to the United States.
Because of increasing political and economic instability in Nicaragua, Lizbeth & Manuel made the difficult decision to say good-bye to their home and families and seek refuge first in Costa Rica, and now in the United States. While their refugee resettlement agency helps with food, housing, and cultural adjustment for the first three months, there are plenty of basic needs that are not addressed that Lizbeth, Manuel and baby Abiel need to build a safe and thriving life in Cleveland.
Your support will help provide this amazing family of three with the tools they need to build a new life in this country. Welcoming a new baby, learning a new language, and navigating life in a new country is no small task. It truly takes a caring, involved village and we are building one.
All contributions are deeply appreciated – and go directly to this new family for one of the following purposes:
-- Baby supplies – diapers, clothes, formula, etc.
-- Child care costs – once both Lizbeth and Manuel have work this will be especially important!
-- Housing costs – The agency only helps with housing for the first three months. Support with monthly rent until they can afford it on their own will be needed.
-- Affording a car - it's challenging to get around Cleveland without a car, and a vehicle would help them get to work and to childcare.
-- General living expenses - food, household supplies, gas, and more
Additionally, if you are looking for other ways to contribute, (goods, services, meals, employment opportunities), or have questions, please contact me directly.
With gratitude,
Havi
