My name is Maureen, and I am a volunteer reader for my local public elementary school as well as the founder of Little Libraries, an organization dedicated to comforting and inspiring children through the love of books, reading, and libraries. This holiday season I will be giving each child in my volunteer Pre-K classroom a book of their own to take home. The book giveaway will be on Wednesday, December 17th.

Choosing this year’s book was easy… it is “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.” I chose this book because all the kids love it and want to read it every week. Plus, I figure if I give it to them, then I won’t have to read it anymore this year! I will simply tell the children, “Let’s pick a book that you don’t have at home.” I write this with a chuckle and much fondness for “Pete.” It truly is a wonderful book!

There are 18 children in the class and each book costs $19.14 (with tax), so $344.52 is my total goal. Please consider a contribution of $19.14 to purchase one book for a child, but contributions of any amount are appreciated.
