First and foremost, I hope this message finds you well. I know that many of us are facing difficult times, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read this.

My name is Edna "Lily" Robles, and I've created this fundraiser to help my sister and I travel to Mexico to reunite with our father, who was recently deported under heartbreaking circumstances.

A little about my dad: he is a 74-year-old Cuban man who is disabled. He was detained in the United States for eight months, during which he endured significant psychological distress. He was treated with coldness and cruelty, and ultimately, he could no longer bear the conditions. With no other option, he made the painful decision to self-deport.

To clarify, psychological torment refers to the intentional infliction of emotional or mental suffering, something that can lead to severe trauma, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. My elderly father experienced this firsthand, and it has left deep scars.

Although most of the distress was inflicted upon my elderly father, it also left deep deep scars on us, his family with the feeling of being powerless against an unimaginable evil from my home country, the USA.

He was dropped off in a remote part of Mexico alone, vulnerable, and far from both his homeland and the country he once called home. My sister and I are doing our best to get by here in the U.S., but we are struggling just like most of you. We are asking for your help so we can travel to him most of all, support him, and figure out the next steps for his care and well-being.

No amount is too small. If you are unable to contribute financially, we completely understand but even sharing this fundraiser with others would mean the world to us.
