Support Liam Mahoney After Legal Trouble

We’re reaching out to help Liam Mahoney, a local surfer, who’s currently facing expenses after a troubling incident.

Many of you know Liam — he grew up surfing 19th Avenue in Belmar, spending every summer & winter surfing and building deep roots in our beach community. Though he now resides in California, his family still lives in Belmar, and he returns often to visit loved ones.

Back in August during one of those visits, Liam was involved in an incident that made headlines. He was tackled by a police officer over a beach badge dispute — a situation that many agree escalated far beyond reason. Liam faced three serious charges, but rather than endure the stress, expense, and uncertainty of a trial, he took a plea deal. He’s now been charged several hundred dollars by the town, and he still faces additional legal fees — including cost of travel.

This fundraiser is about more than just covering fines. It’s about standing by one of our own. Liam is not someone who seeks conflict or trouble — he’s someone who’s always respected the ocean, the community, and the place he calls home. What happened to him could have happened to anyone, and now he needs our support to get through it.

All funds raised will go directly toward helping Liam pay the charges issued by the town. While this doesn’t cover all of his legal fees or travel costs, every bit of support helps lighten the load.
