Support Lexi & Asher Through Selah's Journey
Donation protected
*Update 11/21/24*
Thank you to everyone who has donated and prayed for Lexi & Asher! We are truly amazed at your generosity.
We are comforted knowing that Selah Grace is now in the presence of Jesus. A memorial service will be planned to celebrate her short but beautiful life. We will meet together on Saturday, November 23 at Sunset Ministry Center in Pompton Plains, at 1:00PM. Everyone is welcome & invited to join the family!
We appreciate your continued prayers for Lexi and Asher and their families as they grieve and heal during this time.
Donations are still welcomed, and/or there is a meal train set up if you would like to provide a meal for Lexi & Asher. Your kindness and support means so much.
We are raising funds to help support Lexi & Asher Koeman as they anticipate the passing of their first baby, Selah Grace.
Selah has Trisomy 18, which means she has an extra 18th chromosome that affects her body's physical development and has led to severe birth defects with her lungs, heart, brain, & intestines. Selah's body has started rejecting blood from the placenta and is only absorbing a portion of the nutrients she needs. Because of this, she is no longer growing and she is not expected to survive much longer. The doctors say if she does not pass away inside of Lexi before she goes into labor, Selah will not have the strength to survive birth. We believe in faith that God can perform miracles and we are praying that Asher and Lexi can meet her alive before she passes. We also praying that she passes peacefully without suffering.
As Christians who strongly believe in the sanctity of life, Lexi and Asher have decided from first learning this prognosis at 12 weeks that Selah's life is still valuable and worth cherishing. They are choosing to celebrate their daughter regardless of what the world says. What a miracle it has already been that Lexi has carried her into the third trimester! Selah Grace is fiercely loved!
Due to her need for multiple weekly doctor appointments, Lexi has not been able to work her nannying jobs as often as she was prior to pregnancy. Asher has missed work without pay so that he could go to appointments with Lexi and see Selah's ultrasounds. Additionally, many families have stopped asking Lexi to babysit for their children (likely because this is all is too challenging to explain to young kids and because she is not as reliable due to the complexity of the situation). This has also created a loss of significant side income that they relied on. At this time, there is a lot of uncertainty as to how long Lexi will need to be out of work as she recovers physically from labor and delivery and emotionally from this traumatic loss.
Lexi & Asher's health insurance has a very high deductible and co-pays that they are responsible for. This situation will end up costing them more than they ever could have imagined.
Funeral expenses are now looming as Lexi and Asher plan to purchase a casket and have a service honoring the life of Selah Grace.
It is our hope and prayer that by starting this Go Fund Me campaign, we can bless Lexi and Asher by providing peace of mind over their finances. Given that we are called to "bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2), this seems like the least we can do.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:13-16, ESV).
