We are raising funds to support a brave community member who is fighting back against corruption and abuse of power within the Bridgeport Police Department. She was falsely arrested as a result of a fabricated investigation led by Detective David Garcia. Thankfully, she won her criminal trial but the trauma, legal battles, and emotional toll have left lasting scars on her and her family.

Now, she is pursuing civil action to seek accountability and justice not just for herself, but for others who could be impacted by this detective’s repeated misconduct.

Detective Garcia has a documented history of violating departmental policies. Most recently, on June 3, 2025, years after her wrongful arrest, an internal affairs investigation (OIA Case #241-089) found Garcia guilty of the following violations:

G.O. 6.02 A – Failure to follow proper criminal investigation procedures

G.O. 1.01B 2.4 – Lack of attentiveness to duty

G.O. 1.01B 1.3 – Discourtesy

G.O. 5.24 IVB – Failure to properly use body-worn cameras

G.O. 1.01B 1.2 – Failure to conform to laws

G.O. 1.03 B – Lack of knowledge of department rules and regulations

For all of these violations, Garcia received only a loss of three holiday days and retraining, a slap on the wrist. He remains employed with the Bridgeport Police Department to this day.
