Despite no longer being a part of his life, certain individuals continue to control his medical decisions through an outdated and questionable healthcare directive, while Luis has signed new legal documents expressing his wishes. Unfortunately, these new documents are being disregarded in favor of the old directive.

Why We Need Your Help

Luis has full mental clarity and simply wants to come home. However, under California law, the outdated directive still gives certain individuals legal control over his medical care. Despite Luis’s wishes and his newly signed legal documents, the medical facility and social workers are refusing to honor them. They continue to prioritize the old directive, which claims that Luis is incapable of making decisions for himself.

Regaining control over a loved one's care in this situation is incredibly difficult, and we are fighting to ensure that Luis’s wishes are respected. This legal battle is emotionally and financially taxing, but we are determined to get him the care he deserves and bring him home.
