I am a personal friend of a very dedicated amateur radio operator/technician who resides in Erie P.A. His name is Lee Williams. Lee put his repeater on the air in 1976 that has operated since then and continues to operate covering the Erie P.A. areas. The funding for this system comes from Lee's personal income. Through his life, Lee has always helped local clubs and groups with tuning/building their repeaters providing any and all knowledge he has. His vast knowledge of radio and electronics have always been available free of charge to all local clubs in the area and statewide. Lee lost his wife to cancer over 20 years ago. This led to Lee spending his retirement savings on medical bills trying to save his wife. Lee has done everything right in his life and has been my personal friend since 1991. Lee has raised two children who are now adults . Lately, Lee has fallen on tough times amid the economy. Lee has been disabled for several years and is now in his 70's and can no longer work. Though finding it economically tough, Lee has always kept the repeater on the air serving Erie P.A. and surrounding areas with emerganecy communications. I would very much like to see Lee find some help through the community as a dedication to the hobby and to the community. I live in Canada and we all know Lee very well and certainly appreciate his dedication. If you can donate to Lee's family, the entire Ham radio community will thank you. All donations go straight to Lee. Thank you, VE3MMX.
