My son, Ledger, is only 20 months old, and he is facing another major surgery next Wednesday.
Ledger was diagnosed with a spinal arteriovenous fistula, a rare condition where abnormal blood vessels are putting pressure on his spinal cord. He already went through surgery in hopes of fixing this… but it wasn’t successful.
We have now learned that he still has another fistula that must be removed. This next surgery is critical.
The risks are something no parent is ever prepared to hear. Without successful treatment, Ledger is at risk for paralysis and loss of bladder control.
This isn’t just a surgery and done situation. He will require multiple days in the hospital, followed by intense physical therapy and a long recovery. I will be out of work for some time so I can be there with him through all of it.
As a single mom, I am doing everything I can, but this has become overwhelming, emotionally and financially.
I am asking, from the bottom of my heart, if you can help in any way:
• Donate if you’re able
• Share our story
• Keep my son in your prayers
He is just a baby. He deserves the chance to move, to grow, and to live a full life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Sonia and her children
