Leah’s Little Library

Hi! I’m Leah Shefsky! I have a really special project I’m working on to help families in the NICU where I was born and lived for 97 days as a baby. For my Bat Mitzvah Project. I am starting a project called “Leah’s Little Library”. Babies’ brain development depends on experiencing language starting at birth. In the NICU it’s hard for families to focus on that when their babies are so sick. I’m working to create a library for NICU families at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY where I was born. I will need to purchase a cart to house the books. I will also need TONS of books to donate to families. Every child, no matter how small or sick, deserves a chance to succeed in life. I’m looking to help pay it forward to other families like mine and kids like me who spend time growing in the NICU. Please consider donating to help me purchase my library cart and new books to be purchased quarterly for every NICU family at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. This project will help hundreds of families who are going through a stressful time feel a little bit more normal.
