Hi everyone, my name is Leah Peterson. I am a junior Honors Economics major with a minor in Russian at Howard University, and I am currently running for President of the Howard University Student Association.
Since arriving at Howard as a freshman, campus leadership and service have been central to my experience. Most recently, I have had the honor of serving as Chairwoman of the HUSA Senate, where I worked closely with more than 70 student organizations across campus. In that role, I helped allocate over $250,000 in funding to support student initiatives, programs, and events that make Howard’s campus vibrant and impactful.
Beyond budgeting, I have worked alongside students, university administration, local DC partners, and other universities to advance legislative efforts focused on issues that matter to our community. These efforts have addressed topics such as campus safety, student access to resources, food security, and strengthening the overall student experience at Howard.
Now I am taking the next step in my leadership journey by running for HUSA President. This is one of the most significant student leadership races on campus, and campaigns at Howard are deeply rooted in HBCU culture, especially through engaging with students directly. Tabling events, outreach, and student-centered programming are essential to connecting with the campus community and sharing our vision.
Running a campaign of this scale requires resources, and I am humbly asking for your support. Contributions will help fund tabling events, outreach materials, and opportunities to engage with students across campus during campaign season.
Howard has given me so much, and this campaign is about continuing to serve the community that helped shape me. Any support, whether through donations or simply sharing this page, truly means the world.
Thank you for believing in this journey.
With gratitude,
Leah Peterson
