Hi, my name is Lazaro Rivera.

I never thought I'd be in this kind of situation—heartbroken, betrayed, and now fighting for my freedom. I’m a father and a professional tattoo artist of 15 years, and I’ve dedicated my life to raising my daughter the best way I knew how. But everything changed over the past year.

My 16-year-old daughter started hanging around the wrong crowd—people who introduced her to drugs, alcohol, and dangerous choices. She began skipping school, failing her classes, and was even expelled from multiple schools. She got a tattoo behind my back, despite knowing what I do for a living, and tried to get another one illegally at just 15. I did everything I could to guide her back onto the right path—but the more I tried to help, the worse things got.

Behind my back, she told family and friends she wanted to be emancipated—that she would find a way to get rid of me. Sadly, she did.

Our last argument turned ugly. She came at me aggressively, and I had to restrain her to stop anyone from getting hurt. Later, she injured herself—scratches and bruises on her neck—and ran to a neighbor’s house, falsely accusing me of doing it. The neighbors didn’t know our history, so they believed her. After 12 hours of hiding next door, the police were called. They didn’t believe me either.

I was arrested, spent four days in jail, and now I’m facing a third-degree felony charge for domestic violence and child abuse—charges that could take away everything I’ve worked for.

For those who truly know me, you know I’m a loving, hardworking father. I’ve sacrificed so much to raise my daughter with love, discipline, and structure. This situation is tearing me apart. I don’t want to lose my freedom or my future over something I didn’t do.
