"It’s cancer."

Two words I never thought I’d hear.
Two words that change our entire world.

But here we are. The fight begins.

Lawson has absolutely no idea how many people are cheering for him, standing in his corner, and sending love from near and far. But we do, and it has not gone unnoticed. We are beyond blessed.

I won’t say much more, but please know that your cheers, positive thoughts, and kind words mean everything. They lift us. They remind us that we are not alone in this battle.

We absolutely could not do this without you all and the strength that Lawson has given us.

It takes a village, and we have a good one.

Lawson’s Journey So Far
On Wednesday, February 12th, Nicole took Lawson to the doctor, thinking it was a simple UTI. However, after immediate X-rays and an ultrasound, doctors discovered a 6.5 cm mass on his prostate, blocking his urinary tract. A catheter was inserted right away to relieve the obstruction.

By February 14th, Lawson had an MRI in Kingston, which confirmed the presence of the mass. A few days later, on February 17th, he was transferred to SickKids in Toronto for specialized care. On February 19th, Lawson underwent a biopsy and CT scan, where 11 samples were taken from the mass.

On February 20th, a CT scan confirmed that there were no other tumours or masses elsewhere in his body—a relief in this difficult moment. However, the preliminary biopsy results came back today, and it is cancer.

What’s Next
Since birth, Lawson has had over a dozen café-au-lait spots, and in the past few months, more than 40 additional spots have appeared in a freckle-like pattern. This has led doctors to suspect Neurofibromatosis (NF1), a genetic neurological disorder that causes tumours to grow on nerves, the spine, the brain, and the skin. While we don’t yet know if the mass is directly related to NF1, the diagnosis will help guide treatment.

The next step is to shrink the mass before any surgery can be performed. We are taking things one step at a time, holding on to hope, and staying strong as we move forward.

A Message from Nicole and Dom, Shared by Morganne Campbell
This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and while we are heartbroken, we are also feeling incredibly strong and hopeful.

Lawson is our warrior, our light, and our absolute hero. His strength, resilience, and ability to make us laugh even in the hardest moments have been nothing short of incredible.

We are staying positive and focusing on what’s ahead—treatment, healing, and getting our boy back to being the fun, energetic, and hilarious kid we all know and love.

The outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, and community has been overwhelming. Your messages, prayers, and kindness are carrying us through this, and we truly can’t thank you enough.

Lennox has been a source of love and laughter, staying with us most of the time and being lovingly cared for by Dom’s parents or Nicole’s mom here in Toronto.

Though we still have a long road ahead, we are staying optimistic, taking things hour by hour.

If you're able to donate to help ease the financial burdens while our family focuses on healing, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit helps.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With love,
Nicole, Dom & Lawson
