It is with profound sadness that we share the untimely passing of Anisul Islam, a bright 27-year-old Master’s student at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Eight months ago, Anisul came to Canada carrying the hopes and dreams of his entire family. He worked hard toward a future of stability and financial freedom for his five young siblings and elderly parents back in Bangladesh. His parents invested everything they had — their life savings and lifelong hopes — to give their beloved son the opportunity to build a better future.

Tragically, a sudden cardiac arrest on 22nd of Sep, 2025 took Anisul’s life far too soon, leaving behind a grieving family and a shattered dream. What was once a journey of promise has now turned into a heartbreaking struggle for his parents and siblings, who face emotional and financial devastation.

The Bangladeshi Community of Thunder Bay stands united in this difficult time and already sent Anisul’s body to back home for farewells and burial. This campaign is solely focused to help Anisul’s family.
