LaShawna Jones and her family need our community’s help.

Through absolutely no doing of her own, LaShawna’s life was turned upside down when a suspect ran into her home, leading to a police standoff. What had been a peaceful home for LaShawna and her family was severely damaged during the incident. Walls were torn apart, windows were busted, and the damage left the home uninhabitable.

In a matter of moments, she lost nearly everything she had worked so hard to rebuild her home, clothing, beds, couches, furniture, and many of the basic necessities a family needs just to live day to day.

What makes this situation even more heartbreaking is everything LaShawna has already endured. Last year, she suffered the unimaginable loss of her daughter in the Missouri River. She tragically drowned. During that devastating time, she also lost her previous home. Since then, she has worked hard to put the pieces of her life back together, find stability, and create a home again for her family.

Now, after finally getting back on her feet, she is being forced to start over once again.

This tragedy has also affected her livelihood. LaShawna is a caregiver, and the home that was destroyed was also where she provided care to her clients. Because the home can no longer be occupied, she is not only facing displacement, she will also be without her normal source of income for the time being.

We are asking our community to come together for LaShawna and her family.

Funds raised will help with temporary housing, clothing, beds, furniture, household necessities, personal items, transportation needs, and other immediate expenses while LaShawna works toward finding a permanent home and returning to work.
