Help Support Larry Hart and His Family Through His Fight With Stage 4 Cancer

What started as shoulder pain landed my parents in the ER on the eve of their 40th wedding anniversary. Instead of celebrating, they spent that night in a hospital room- and began a journey none of us could have imagined.

Soon after, my dad, Larry Hart, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, which has already spread aggressively to his spine, adrenal glands, bones, and spleen. It’s a devastating diagnosis that continues to evolve. Despite undergoing his first chemo treatment, Larry’s most recent scans show that the cancer is continuing to grow and spread.

He is still fighting. But his body is struggling, and we’re navigating difficult discussions around his comfort, treatment options and long-term care.

A Quiet Hero, A Lifelong Provider

Larry is a proud, loyal, humble man. He met my mom when my sister and I were young, adopted us as his own, and later welcomed my brother into the world. He’s worked tirelessly for decades as a crane rigger and operator, showing up every day for the people and jobs that relied on him. He’s never once asked for handouts.

He’s been a pillar in his local Elks Lodge, helping organize community events and fundraisers for others in need. Now, for the first time, we’re the ones needing help.

Why We’re Asking for Support

Larry’s health has declined rapidly since his diagnosis. He’s been in and out of the hospital, often in debilitating pain. His treatment options are limited by the cancer’s spread and how his body is responding. He can no longer work, and the financial process is slow and uncertain.

Medical bills are now piling up. His life insurance is modest, which doesn’t come close to covering what’s still owed on their home- never mind the cost of care, lost wages, and everything else that comes with end-of-life planning.

My mom has not worked in a few years and has been living off Larry’s income. She is now facing not only the emotional weight of losing her husband of 40 years, but the financial stress of what comes next.
