Lakshmi, a beloved friend and dedicated community leader in the Ruhaniat and DUP in Ecuador, is facing the harsh realities of a severe drought that has plunged the country into a crisis. Extended power outages and water rationing have become daily challenges, disrupting essential services and impacting countless lives in daily activities.
Ecuador is currently experiencing significant power outages and water rationing across the country due to a severe drought, which has drastically depleted water levels in the hydroelectric dams that provide the majority of the nation's electricity. This has resulted in extended daily power cuts, sometimes lasting up to 14 hours, and mandatory water rationing measures implemented by the local authorities in some areas and neighborhoods. Lakshmi’s house has been receiving potable water once a week for 3 hours. This makes it possible to fill a reserve tank that has the capacity to last for 4 days only.
Lakshmi's home, like many others, has been affected by these shortages. The lack of electricity has made working, studying, meeting with her students online, teaching, and maintaining necessities very challenging. Cooking meals for her family and for her catering business of preparing meals for other families in the community has become a daunting task, as reliable power sources are so scarce. Additionally, the water shortage has limited access to clean water for drinking, bathing, laundry, and household chores.
Lakshmi and her family need a propane generator to alleviate these hardships and continue her important work. This generator will provide a reliable source of electricity, allowing her to power essential appliances like lights, refrigerators, and even the water pump that brings the water from the tank to her house. With a generator, she can cook meals, charge her devices, and access the internet to maintain a connection with her students.
By supporting Lakshmi, you're not just helping an individual but empowering a community. Your contribution will enable her to continue her vital work, provide for her family, and help others in need during these challenging times.
