In August 2025, Kyler began experiencing numbness and tingling in his feet. Over time, the sensation moved up his body, eventually causing numbness in his lower body from his chest down. After months of scans and tests, a full-body MRI revealed a tumour inside his spinal cord and lower brain.

Kyler is scheduled to undergo spinal surgery on March 10, 2026. The outcome is still uncertain, and doctors will continue monitoring the tumour in his brain, which may require additional surgery in the future. The tumours are not thought to be cancerous, but will be confirmed through a biopsy. Regardless, recovery from neurological surgery can be long and challenging.

Kyler and Jaymee are raising three young boys: Thatcher (6), Arden (4), and Harlan (1). Kyler has been advised that he can no longer drive his boat. As someone who is self-employed, he has supported his family for many years through boat driving and photography in remote locations—work that will not be possible during his recovery.

The family will also face frequent trips to Vancouver for medical appointments and follow-up care, adding further financial strain during an already difficult time.

We are hoping to rally the community to help ease this burden so Kyler and Jaymee can focus on what matters most: Kyler’s recovery and caring for their young family.
