Hello, my name is Kye. I’m an Ithaca local who you may know from Mighty Yoga or from one of the local restaurants I’ve worked at over the years.

You may or may not know that when I was nine years old, my kidneys failed after a severe case of strep throat. Since then, I’ve lived with a chronic illness, which has meant countless medications, surgeries, and complications along the way. When I was fifteen, I got my first transplant, which failed two years later, and then another kidney transplant in 2020. Now, after six healthy years, this transplant is also failing. I’m currently preparing to get back on dialysis, which will require two surgeries with several weeks of recovery each, during which time I will be unable to work. On top of that, I’m currently searching for housing and preparing to move, which means I can’t afford to miss out on work.
