Aloha Family and Friends,
We are raising funds for my cousin Ku'ulei and Chris McCarthy who are 40+ year residents of Kawaihae. With the recent heavy rain that occurred, their family home, was flooded inside and out with many household necessities no longer usable. Without going too much into detail, this flood event was the worst of its kind; it forced Ku’ulei and Chris to evacuate their home in the middle of the night and left them wondering if they would survive.
Ku’ulei and Chris are hard working people, and have never asked anyone for anything, even when they’ve experienced previous flooding to their property. They live a simple lifestyle, recently overcame some health issues, and make do with what they have and they always share whatever they can with whoever needs help, whenever they can.
It breaks our heart to see the two of them struggling to clean their home and property just to make it livable again. There are many family, friends, and loved ones that have provided valuable assistance in the clean up efforts and we thank each and every one of you for being there for them.
Although there are many sentimental items that cannot be replaced, this gofund me account has been created to assist with replacing household items, like a new refrigerator, washer, and tools that were lost or damaged during the flood. We understand that finances are challenging for everyone and if there are some skills or services you are willing to help with, like plumbing, electrical, carpentry or even just showing up to help move things around, that would be awesome.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or need more information. Mahalo for reading everyone!
