Support Kristen & Rich's Big Move and Michigan Renovations!

On January 31, 2024, I was accepted to my dream law school, the University of Michigan Law. As early as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer. However, as a first-generation student from East Los Angeles, the path was not always clear or seamless. Now twenty years out of high school, and after many life redirections, I am making my dream come true at a TOP 10 LAW SCHOOL in the same year my son will begin college.
Preparing for the next three years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, my partner and I have purchased our first home together. Due to housing availability and personal resources, we had to buy quickly to ensure that we would find a place that checked multiple boxes. I officially closed on May 20, 2024, and we have begun renovating. HOWEVER, the home requires much more than anticipated. Unfortunately, we have exhausted our resources by purchasing a new roof, flooring, AC, furnace, and water heater, totaling an additional $20,700. Not fully prepared for the number of repairs needed, we are now working to find resources to help us complete the remaining jobs necessary to bring the house to code, cover our furniture, and cross-country move. All while I am working to gain educational funding for my remaining tuition cost.
With that said, we are reaching out to our network to aid in this endeavor. I know that once we get over this initial hump, dreams will begin to formally become a reality, and the financial challenges that currently plague us will no longer be a concern. We hope that by sharing our story, dreams, and future, we can gain the necessary resources and eliminate the remaining financial burden.
All funds donated will be documented, and receipts/confirmations will be made available to those in support. At this time, funds are needed for the following:
Any additional roofing or flooring costs may arise this week as work begins.
Updating/replacing the electrical boxes
Replacement of toilets
Replacement of bathtub and sidewalls
Replacement of 6 doors
Possible window replacements
Replacing rotted wood
All household furniture (cost was too high to bring from California)
Travel costs (flights, baggage cost for clothing shipments, rental cars for repairs, etc., driving two cars across the country, travel cost for Noah to Switzerland, etc...)
With a cross-country move from our childhood homes and with my son attending his first year of college in Switzerland (a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity), getting all three of us to the next phase in our journey will be no easy feat. Still, through the support of our network and community, I know it is possible.
Lastly, for those who may want to support us in other ways, we have created a gift registry through Amazon. This list includes household items and items that I will need for my office and education. We crunched the numbers, and it will be more cost-effective to gather new household items than to ship/transport ours cross-country.
In the event the link above does not work, please feel free to reach out directly through the platform and I can send you the info, our Zelle, Venmo, or info for direct transfer, if an alternative would be more aligned.
For all three of us, this is a transformative season of life. Although exciting, it is also daunting and has been extremely overwhelming. However, with the love and support of our friends and family, we are all only months away from a new life and in active pursuit of our dreams. Thank you all for your time, love, and support. Now and over the years!
