My name is Aspen. My younger sister, Kourtney Mansfield, suffered a brutal stabbing attack that happened early Saturday morning, May 24th, while she was working as a caretaker for intellectually disabled individuals.
She was repeatedly stabbed which resulted in her receiving 9 staples in her head and several stitches in her chest, back, hands, and ankle. The stab wound in her back hit her liver, and the one in her chest hit an artery. She suffered internal bleeding between her heart and her sternum and had to have surgery immediately as it was life threatening. She has a long recovery ahead, both physically and psychologically.
She is in a lot of pain and is struggling to breathe, sleep, walk and go about daily living tasks. This is life altering and Kourtney needs all the love and support she can get. She has the kindest heart and is such a sweet individual. She is only 20 years old and is a student at Dixie Tech. She was supposed to be walking this week to be awarded her certificate, but is no longer able to participate and receive recognition for her hard work and accomplishments.
We are asking for any help that can be given to allow family to be with her at this time in the hospital to provide necessary care and support and to cover any additional expenses to help her recover through this horrific tragedy.
