Support Kori's Road to Recovery

On Sunday, July 10th, 2022, around 3:30 am, my world completely changed when I received a telephone call notifying me that my daughter Kori Gayle had been run over by a car. My heart stopped as all I heard was exactly that. With no word on her current condition or sustained injuries, I wasn’t entirely sure how to prepare myself. I gained my composure and rushed to Elliot Hospital to learn that Kori was severely injured but ALIVE!

I was told there had been an altercation that led one individual to jump into his vehicle, put his car in reverse and run over whoever was in his path. Unfortunately, my daughter and a few of her friends were those affected. Kori was slammed and dragged, severely road rashed and bruised; she suffered several fractured ribs, fractured her neck, damaged her bladder and liver, and broke her Pelvis in 10 different places. Kori was in the ICU for four days and was later transferred to the surgical unit. Kori has already undergone two procedures, one of which ruled out internal bleeding and another that totaled six hours to reconstruct her pelvis using metal rods and plates. It was a miracle and the grace of God that she survived the impact and is still with us today.

Kori worked as an in-home care assistant and always went above and beyond to care for those entrusted to her. Due to this unforeseen accident and the severity of her injuries, Kori will not be able to return to work for a while and will be faced with undue financial hardship. Once discharged from the hospital, Kori must be cared for at home and receive plenty of rehabilitative therapies so that she can walk and care for herself again.
