Support Kona's Skatepark Expansion

The Kona Skatepark ʻOhana is a small but dedicated group of skaters and parents of skaters operating under the Kona Skatepark Association 501c3. We came together in late 2023 with one clear mission: to expand the Kona Skatepark and create a world-class space for our community. Our skatepark is located within the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area, a hub for youth and adult sports alike, and is adjacent to a popular Big Island surf spot, a rare but perfect combo.

In 2012, construction began on the skatepark, which culminated in the completion of two out of five phases approved by the County. Sadly, the project was halted shortly after and remains, to this day, only a fraction of the original concept. Our current group convened just over a year ago with new energy and steadfast determination. After a year of planning and working closely with County officials, we now have a renewed agreement with Parks and Recreation to proceed with the next phase, which will consist of several new concrete obstacles. Our ultimate goal is the fruition of the originally agreed-upon park, which will foster a vibrant skate scene in Kona for generations to come.

$40,000 has been pledged so far from Council Members Holeka Inaba and Rebecca Villegas. We have received approximately $10,000 in private donations to date. The total price tag is $85,000 for the completion of the initial concrete add-on phase. We humbly ask for your kōkua in raising the remaining $35,000 and making this vision a reality. Each monetary contribution will directly impact the expansion of the Kona Skatepark.
