Support Kody and Bri's Baby's Heart Surgery
Donazione protetta
Dear Family, Friends, and Compassionate Strangers,
My name is Michelle Omatto and I am reaching out today with a heavy heart but hopeful spirits, as my brother in law, Kody, and sister in law, Bri face a journey no one could have ever imagined. Kody and Bri are currently expecting their third child, a precious baby boy who has already shown so much strength. At their 20 week ultrasound they received devastating news: the baby was diagnosed with a rare, serious heart defect called transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA), where the two main arteries carrying blood away from the heart are in switched position. They have seen specialists and have come to learn that within the first week of life, their baby will require open heart surgery to repair it.
As parents, there is nothing more terrifying than knowing your child will come into this world needing life-saving surgery. The baby’s heart condition is complex, requiring specialized care from the moment he takes his first breath. They have been told to prepare for an extended stay in the cardiac ICU, expect more frequent medical care following the hospital stay, that he will require life long follow up with cardiologists, and possibly need more procedures.
The emotional weight is immense, but the financial burden is something I don’t want them to have to manage alone. Even with insurance, the mounting medical bills for prenatal care, specialists, and the impending surgery are overwhelming. Additionally, they will face months of time off work, likely more than they anticipated, as they stay by their baby’s side during this critical time. This will further strain their ability to meet basic living expenses and care for their other two children.
This is where I humbly ask for your help. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing their story, every bit of support makes a difference. Kody and Bri are so grateful for anything you can give to help them focus on what matters most, this new baby’s fight for life.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity. Your kindness will help give Kody and Bri’s baby the chance to grow up, to laugh, to play, and to experience all the beautiful moments that every child deserves.
With gratitude and hope,
